Google AdSense and other Pay Per Click (PPC) advertisements can be a great way to make money from blogs. With PPC advertisements, you get paid anywhere from a few pennies to a few dollars every time someone clicks on an ad. Even if PPC advertising is working well on your blog or Web site, often a little "tuning" can easily increase income by a factor of four or more!
Our advice has always been simple - don't put all your eggs in one basket! If you're using Pay Per Click Advertising, then make sure you also try other PPC advertisers and have a fair bit of SEO going on too to generate organic traffic. SEO organic traffic is driven by sheer hard work - writing articles, forum posts, blogs, Squidoo lenses, hub pages, video marketing - to build up your online presence and expertise for your chosen niche keywords. Organic takes time.
The Google Network consists of thousands of web properties including search sites, content pages, email services (Gmail), newsletters and discussion boards. According to Media Metrics Data 80% of internet users in the United States will view an AdWords ad within the next month. You may choose to show your ads on the search network the content network or perhaps both depending on your custom needs.
You will find that some of these will provide better results than others. I’m not going to recommend one over another here because results vary widely and really depend on your site content, your market and your budget. But below is a brief description of each product offering and the minimum cost involved.
If you are ready to pay, find the most popular PPC sites and start off slow. Since you only pay by "the click", you can set your budget accordingly. Be sure to use sites that will allow you to set limits on the daily expenditures. More important indeed, be sure to track your results. No use spending money without results.
Be creative when using keywords for your ads. Instead of using one or two, try combining these keywords to make longer phrases. This could work toward your advantage because many marketers to not realize the power in long tail keywords and they pay the price by missing out on pay per click search results. Cars might be a good keyword to use for a broad PPC ad campaign, but adding a related word that makes it more specific like, Sports Cars, brings a higher click-through rate.
Many businesses use most of the words available in their word count to place the name of their business and they don't take advantage of researched keywords. PPC advertisers could be paying more money for their ads then they need to because they haven't investigated less popular keywords that are just as effective and provide a similar return on investment (ROI).
